Art Therapy and Creative Wellness
Art therapy is a unique therapeutic practice where challenging thoughts, emotions and experiences are creatively explored, voiced and processed. Clients are offered opportunities for self-exploration and understanding through the production of visual imagery. By inviting creative expression into a therapeutic space the client is empowered to make something about him/her/themselves visible, which in turn can enrich the therapeutic process and efficacy.
Regardless of background, experience or skill level, art therapy is accessible to anyone interested in communicating non-verbally. The process of voicing unique experiences via art-making can be immensely insightful, transformative, grounding, and healing.
As an art therapist, I employ respectful, empathetic and client-centered counselling practices. I create space for the art-making process and act as witness to the exploration, growth and healing that ensues. Fundamental to my therapeutic practice is nurturing an environment where the personal stories of each client are honoured. I believe art therapy has the ability to strengthen an individual’s potential and foster a healthier body, mind and spirit.
